Statis-Pro Football Home Page
:: Latest update:   2007 NFL Season Card Set posted !!! (1st Draft Version)

Welcome to my website dedicate to the hobby of Statis-Pro Football, a great football simulation board game produced in the 80's and 90's by Avalon Hill. Although the game was discontinued in 1992, enthusiasts continue to play the game, producing their own custom player cards, rules and competitions. Hopefully this site will become an important resource for players of the game from around the world. If you have any ideas, suggestions or contributions to make to the site, then please don't hesitate to get in touch. My email appears in the footer of every page

There will be a lot of content appearing on this site but I won't be adding it all at once as I have a lot of other stuff to take care of, so my free time is quite limited. The basic site is up and I will soon get started on filling in the actual real content of the site. I'll keep a list of updates in the list on the right of this page so you can quickly see what's been added and you can check the update diary for more details of what's been added and what's on its way

For those of you who don't know what Statis-Pro is, let me give you an overview. It was a game created by Avalon Hill and created from 1980 up to 1992 although some doubt remains as to whether a 1992 set actually ever hit the stores. Each set contained a rulebook, scorecard and playing board with pieces so you could mark the position of your team and where the 1st down markers were. The core of the game consisted of player cards for every team in the NFL and display charts where you laid out your players

By turning over a deck of fast action cards you would resolve what happened on each play as you secretly noted your play call and strategy and your opponent did the same. Depending on what you chose, the play would be resolved in a number of ways based on the numbers and instructions on these fast action cards [FAC]. You could either play face to face over a tabletop, or even on your own with solitaire rules. The game recreates the feel of pro football and is an excellent simulation of the game with the player cards all determined by the players real stats in that particular season.

I've added a Forum for you to enter into discussions about this great hobby. There are sections for football, baseball and basketball and each section is categorised to help you keep topics together by relevance. Registration is free and hopefully you'll take the opportunity to log in and make a contribution to this community. The more the merrier

Alex Mittermeyer then took things to the next stage with a computer version of the game which is a fantastic way to play solitaire, although by far the most fun you can have is playing face to face against a real human opponent. Network play is in planning for the Windows game and that will be the start of some great international competitions I suspect! I hope to see all you SP enthusiasts out there come together via this site and create a thriving and active community.

Once you've played the game for a while, it won't be long before you start tinkering with the rules, adding variations of your own, or looking for other peoples ideas and custom rulings, and that will all be covered on this site. Then you'll be wanting to know how to make your own player cards to recreate your favourite team or to replay a famous game in NFL history or make up one of your own. Eventually I hope to have every single NFL season cards available at this site and there will be full instructions, charts and tables as well as utility programs that help you create cards on your own if you can't wait for them to be posted.

My favourite team are the Washington Redskins so there will be a whole section dedicated to them, if you have a favourite team and have produced some material for them we could host it here too. I'll be adding links to all the other Statis Pro sites out there, as well as stats and information sites that contribute to this great hobby. The site has been entirely designed and created by myself including all the graphics, but I must acknowledge the huge contribution made by the likes of Marty [DiceQ], Alex Mittermeyer, Roberto Montes and the other guys at the Yahoo Group for Statis Pro. I'll be adding a similar site for Baseball and Basketball as well as a site dedicated to other sports such as Golf, Soccer, Rugby and whatever else I can think of.
